DORMS:
ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR SEPTEMBER - MAY

2008-2009 Dormitory Information and Application

COMMUNITY LIFE

Students of Rudolf Steiner College now have the opportunity for housing on campus in lovely dorms nestled among trees, with miles of nature trails for hiking and swimming in the American River, just down the road.

The dormitories are situated on the south side of the campus across from the gardens and next to the library.

Students come from all over the world, and bring their many talents to share in informal gatherings.

Renoir, Monet and Turner Dormitories

There are eight home units which have six private bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a living-dining room and a kitchen.

Each dorm resident has a private room with desk, chair, lamp, bed and closet with storage shelves. Two telephone lines are available for activation in each bedroom. DSL is available in some units. Every room has independent cooling and heating controls that can be adjusted by the occupant. Laundry facilities are available on campus.

Residency in the dorms run the course of the academic school year. Students will vacate the rooms during the summer to allow for the large number of guests attending the numerous Summer Education classes available.

The cost of rooms for the academic school year monthly rental run $370-$420 per month with a deposit of $300. There are limited family options in the dorm. Selection process is on a first come first served basis, subject availability. An information packet relating to dormitory rental, with a sample lease, is available upon request.

Information & fees click on Housing Form pdf

• DORM HOUSING - NIGHTLY RENTAL:
During the school year, we usually have empty dorm rooms available for nightly rental. You can use the housing form to book either nightly dorm housing or housing in a private home.

• HOUSING IN A PRIVATE HOME:
We have many friendly neighborhood hosts in the area, who rent their spare bedrooms to us. Some of them are within walking distance (1/4 - 1&1/2 miles) with many more within easy driving distance. Some hosts also offer a place for you to put your sleeping bag.

These rooms are classified as followed:

• Deluxe: private room with private bathroom.

• Standard: private room, bathroom shared with host family.

• Sleeping Bag Space: a place to put your bag, not necessarily private.

We have some capacity for double occupancy - some rooms with two twin beds and many more with queen size beds - if you are asking for double occupancy, be sure to let us know if you are willing to share a queen bed with your roommate. We expect you to find your own roommate - we do not put people together.

If you are looking for accommodations during one of our busy times, such as the summer (please use the Summer Housing Form - link at the bottom of the summer courses) or February conference, please book well in advance. Particularly if you will not have transportation - the walking distance housing fills up a month in advance. Although it never hurts to call and ask for availability, even during busy times as we sometimes have cancellations. You will find pricing information and other details on the Housing Form pdf.

We do not take reservations by phone
- you must mail or fax your form to the housing office at 916-864-4860.
